In good condition overall, with minor surface marks and slight scuffing to the edges of the canvas. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration.

Jan Wasilewski was a 20th century artist who focused on landscapes and marine subjects. Little is known of his artistic career, however he is known to have served during WWII. Wasilewski was taken for forced labour and eventually ended up in an aluminium factory in the South of France, he escaped and joined the Free Polish Forces. He went on to serve with the British 8th Army in Italy. After the war he settled in the UK where he began to paint.
