A fine print multiple, signed and dated within the plate and laid on backing card. Likely a later restrike. On wove.

Condition

With two large creases to the lower edge. Condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration.

Artist Biography

Jan Chalon (1735-1795), born in Amsterdam, came to London to work in the strong market for prints at the time in fashionable London. Chalon was best-known for his etchings in the style of Rembrandt. He lived and worked in London until his death.
