Artist Biography
James Wright was born in 1935 but did not start to paint until the mid 1960's. He was working as a woodwork and technical drawing teacher when the demand for his work became so great it enabled him to take up art professionally in 1967. His paintings are mainly of Lincolnshire and East Anglia, specialising in landscapes and river scenes.
Wright has spent many holidays cruising on the rivers Nene and Ouse, looking for scenes to paint. The basis for his work is simple - trees, ploughed fields and farmhouses - but linked with his very individual treatment of the East Anglian sky, the results are delightfully refreshing.
Wright's work has been published by one of the leading publishers and is in collections all over the country.Location
