Artist Biography
Landscape and figure paint, born in Ayr, brother of the artist Margaret Wright. He studied under James MacMaster at Glasgow School of Art. Wright was elected RSW in 1920, later becoming vice-president. He also showed at the RSA, Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and with the RA. The Scottish National Gallery in Edinburgh and Kelvingrove Art Gallery, Glasgow, hold examples. Wright was particularly a paint of Scottish west coast landscapes which are notable for their robust colour and brushwork. He lived in Garelochhead, Dunbartonshire.
