Description

A fine early Victorian miniature watercolour portrait of a confident young man in his late teens, with neatly styled hair and crisp white collar. The artist has used gum arabic to pick out and give depth to areas of clothing and hair. The artist has signed and dated to the reverse and the painting is presented in a handsome 19th Century papier mache frame with brass oval window, glass dome and original brass hanger featuring a clover, thistle and rose. On paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The frame has some stress lines and losses at the lower corners and around the edges of the brass window.

Size
