The deft brushstrokes and confident use of colour show an accomplished hand. The artist has monogrammed the initials of his surname (MCL) at the lower left corner.
Signed with monogram. On canvas.The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some fraying to the raw edges of the canvas at the back. The canvas is coming away from the stretchers on the upper left side on the reverse but this does not affect the integrity of the image.

Born in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland in 1935, James McLernon studied at the Working Men's College in Camden Town. His works have been exhibited in various exhibitions in London. He died in Tunbridge Wells in 2012.
