A fine oil painting by the artist James McLernon, depicting a street scene with figures, one playing the accordion to the lower left-hand corner. The artist's figure composition and structure has allowed for a great dynamic scene, highlighted by the thick brushwork and intense colour palette. Monogrammed to the lower left-hand corner. Label with additional details to the reverse. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

Overall in good condition, with minor discolouration. Inspection under UV light shows no signs of restoration.

Artist Biography

Born in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland in 1935, James McLernon studied at the Working Men's College in Camden Town. His works have been exhibited in various exhibitions in London. He died in Tunbridge Wells in 2012.
