Influenced from an early age by John Constable and the ‘plein air’ painters of the Barbizon school, James Hewitt prefers to paint on location, recording the ‘moment’ in landscape.
Born in Romford in Essex James studied art at St Martins and the Central School in London. He has exhibited in London at the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions. He has also shown at the Chelmsford Museum, the Beecroft Gallery in Southend and in Suffolk and Norfolk.
James paints mainly in the Maldon area where he lives with his family.
