Signs of surface abrasion to the left & right hand edge of the painting, possibly caused by a previous frame. Otherwise in fine condition.

Artist Biography
Painter and illustrator born in Arbroath, Scotland who relocated to London c. 1891 to study art and furthering his knowledge in Paris, 1895-1896. Greig produced many black and white illustrations for a number of magazines. These included Punch and The Sketch. He was also a talented writer and historian and was employed as the art critic for The Morning Post. He is known to only have exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists who elected him to their ranks in 1898. Examples of his work are in the collections of the National Trust for Scotland and Dundee Art Galleries and Museums.
