A bright and colourful watercolour study of an eastern Bazaar depicting a market scene with figures and buildings in the foreground.
Greig was renowned for his colourful landscapes of the middle east and his views of Oxford. He also designed posters for Union Castle Line and P&O.

On watercolour paper.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is a 2cm tear the the lower edge of the painting. A light crease runs horizontally through the centre of the scene.

Artist Biography
Painter and illustrator born in Arbroath, Scotland who relocated to London c. 1891 to study art and furthering his knowledge in Paris, 1895-1896. Greig produced many black and white illustrations for a number of magazines. These included Punch and The Sketch. He was also a talented writer and historian and was employed as the art critic for The Morning Post. He is known to only have exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists who elected him to their ranks in 1898. Examples of his work are in the collections of the National Trust for Scotland and Dundee Art Galleries and Museums.
