Description

A beautiful still life composition by Dutch artist Jacobus Doeser (1884-1970), depicting pink chrysanthemums bursting into bloom. Doeser's thoughtful placement of each textured brush mark and tonal palette perfectly captures the energy of each flower head in this bold floral still life. The work is presented in a decorative foliate frame with bead and reel running pattern to the inner window. Signed lower right. On canvas.

Condition

Signs of wear consistent with age. There is craquelure throughout, light white marks and minor abrasions to the surface. Inspection under UV light reveals no signs of overpainting. There is a small canvas dent to the upper right hand quadrant. The gilt effect frame shows signs of wear to include stable cracking, small chips and losses to the running pattern. The overall condition of the artwork is good.
