Description
A stipple engraving by John Raphael Smith (1751-1812) after George Morland (1763-1804), Plate 4 from the 'Laetitia' series. Presented in a white painted mount and a black lacquer wooden frame with a gilt-effect bead course to the inner edge and gilt-effect lozenge moulding to the outer edge. Inscribed with the title in plate to the lower edge, other information obscured by the mount. There is a label verso inscribed with details about the engraving. On wove.Condition
There is some discolouration and some mild dirt to the underside of the glazing. There is a closed tear and some surface restoration in the lower-left quadrant, measuring 7cm. There are some scuffs to the frame and some chips to the corners.
