Engraved by W. Edwin Law after the oil painting 'Napoleon I' by Ernest Meissonier. Printed on silk and presented in a gilt frame with beaded detailing. Walter Edwin Law flourished between 1910 and 1930, sometime exhibitor at the Royal Academy and Ernest Meissonier (1815-1891) was a French Classicist painter and sculptor famous for his depictions of Napoleon, his armies and military themes. Signed in plate.
Condition
There is some discolouration to the page typical for a picture of this age and a light 10cm vertical abrasion to the upper right quadrant. There are some losses to the beaded detailing on the frame that has been restored and repainted, as well as some touching up to the corners of the frame.
