J.H. - Large 20th Century Pastel Russian Crowd

A colourful and accomplished chalk pastel scene depicting a crowd, possibly of Russian figures. A man with his back to the viewer takes charge of the crowd at the left of the composition, while a further figure rests on a log or mast in the foreground. Presented glazed in a cream mount and a plain oak frame. Signed indistinctly to the lower-left edge. On watercolour paper.
