A delicate and detailed watercolour scene, signed by the artist J.E. Paris, depicting the childhood home of the Puritan preacher and English writer John Bunyan (1628-1688). His cottage can be seen on the right of the scene, with the spire of Elstow Abbey in the distance. The artist has heightened the work using bodycolour. Inscribed to the lower left corner 'Elstow - Bunyan's Cottage, Sep 18th 1883'. Handsomely presented in a double washline mount and gilt wooden frame. Signed and dated and inscribed. On wove.

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is a small indent to the upper left corner.
