Born in 1900, Indian artist J.A. Hulbert is well known for his portraits of local folk from Tibet and India. His work is not often seen, partly because Hulbert signed only with initials and that makes his work hard to identify. Hulbert is known to have exhibited in India and may also have had American connections as much of his work appears there.
