Iverard - A Pair of Early 20th Century Watercolours, Thames Sailing Barges
Description
A pair of maritime scenes depicting Thames sailing barges on the water and beached on the sand. The flat-bottomed barges with a shallow draught and leeboards were perfectly adapted to the Thames Estuary, with its shallow waters and narrow tributary rivers. Fast under sail, they were an efficient and versatile means of transporting goods. Presented glazed in beige mounts and matching wooden frames with silver gilt-effect detailing. Both are signed faintly to the lower-left corners. On watercolour paper.Condition
There is some mild discolouration to both, including to the mounts. There are some small scuffs and scratches to the frames.
