An utterly charming, art deco illustration of a very elaborately dressed Puss In Boots by Iris W. Leaver after the Danish illustrator Kay Nielsen (1886-1957). The artist has used many art deco motifs including roses similar to that of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The fabulous feline is sporting a feathered hat, finely embroidered coat with impressive cuffs and a most attractive pair of patent boots with spurs. The elegance of the cat's character is emulated in the flowing, draped background and refined palette.
The artist has signed and dated to the lower right corner and the painting has been presented in a brushed silver gilt frame with a cream card mount and green inner window. There is a label in verso with the artist's biography.
On wove.The condition is typical for a picture of this age including minor discolouration. The frame is in fine condition.
