Painter of landscapes and flower pieces, born in Kingsmuir, Scotland. She studied under Alberto Morrocco at Dundee College of Art, 1948-53 and travelled extensively in Italy, France and Greece. She was elected RSW in 1955 and exhibited at RA, RSA, RGI, MAFA, Arbroath Art Gallery, Dundee Art Gallery, Salford Art Gallery, Tib Lane, Manchester and the Torrance Gallery, Edinburgh. Halliday also taught art for many years at Didsbury Training College, Manchester and later at Manchester Polytechnic 1965-1979. She was also an exchange Professor at State University College, Buffalo, New York. Her work has been purchased by and in the collections of the SAC, Shell Centre London, Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, Granada TV, Britoil, British National Oil Company, Cooperative Bank plc, Coopers and Lybrand, Pilkington Glass plc, Glasgow University, Dundee Art Gallery, Arbroath Art Gallery, Bolton Art Gallery, Glasgow Art Gallery and Greenock Art Gallery and also in the private collection of HRH Duke of Edinburgh.
