A well painted oil by English artist Hugh Church, who has captured the idyllic beauty of the English countryside. Overall the condition is very good. There is a minor dent to the board in the sky area, causing some minor paint flaking. The painting has been varnished. Frame is in good condition, with a minor mark at lower right edge.

Artist Biography

Hugh Church was a London artist born in Haggerston in 1865. Church attended St. Saviour's School, Ardingly Sussex. He married Jane Helene Wilson in 1892 but she died a short time into their marriage. They had a daughter Annie Helene Church born about 1893.
