With delicate brushwork and a muted palette Church has captured something quintessentially British in the artwork.
The piece is signed in the bottom left-hand corner and well presented in a wood frame with a gilt edge.
On the rear is affixed a gallery label signed by Church.
Signed and incsribed on the reverse. On board.The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is some minor surface dirt present in the sky. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration.

Hugh Church was a London artist born in Haggerston in 1865. He attended St. Saviour's School, Ardingley Sussex. Church married a Jane Helene Wilson in 1892 but she died some time prior to 1901 when he was living at 75 Albert Mansions, South Lambeth and is described as a painter and sculptor. They had a daughter Annie Helene Church born about 1893.
