A charming and delicate late 19th Century watercolour with body color, by the artist Hubert Birkby. The artist has produced a traditional scene typical for the period, with a bucolic sense of calm. Quail and geese wander through the farmyard, with gnarled trees and fields to the distance. Presented in a wooden frame with gilt detail, and a dark card mount, as shown. Signed. On wove.

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There are some marks to the upper areas, particularly in the sky. Some small spots of previous restoration. The overall impression is good.
