Description
A fine portrait study of an elegant woman with a loyal border collie by her side. The artist captures the woman's delicate clothing in excellent detail, painting her fine lace gloves and ruffled satin dress with an expert hand. The sheer lace gloves came into fashion in the mid 19th century to showcase smaller, delicate hands while allowing more room for movement. They were mostly paired with evening gowns such as the one in this painting. Signed and dated vertically to the lower left. Presented in a gilt frame and a peach card mount. On paper.Condition
There are some small areas of scuffing to the centre right.
