A fine portrait study of an elegant woman with a loyal border collie by her side. The artist captures the woman's delicate clothing in excellent detail, painting her fine lace gloves and ruffled satin dress with an expert hand. The sheer lace gloves came into fashion in the mid 19th century to showcase smaller, delicate hands while allowing more room for movement.
