This monochromatic artwork depicts a design for an ornate country house. In the 19th century, "Maison de Campaigne" (French for "country house") referred to a rural house, typically designed as a retreat for the wealthy and nobility. It was a place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy the countryside. This design comes with a finished illustration of the building along with architectural plans to the reverse. Visible through a glass backing to the frame. The reverse designs are signed with initials. Wonderfully presented in an antique rosewood frame with gilt detail. On paper.
