Artist Biography
Herbert William Hicks was a painter in watercolour and gouache of moorland and coastal scenes. He was born in Exeter in 1880 and was a prolific painter of many West Country views, particularly of Devon, in a similar style to F.J. Widgery. He was a friend of the Exeter artist Frederick Parr and they were known to paint together.
