An accomplished watercolour painting by the British artist Herbert George, depicting a rural landscape scene with a shepherd and his sheep. Signed to the lower left-hand corner. There is a label on the reverse inscribed with the artist's biographical details. Presented in a wash line card mount and in a speckled gilt effect frame. On watercolour paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and light foxing. Minor marks to the mount and small scuffs to the frame.

Artist Biography

Herbert George was a British artist born in Surrey and working for much of his career in Cornwall. George studied at South Kensington, in Newlyn, under Stanhope Forbes, and in St Ives under John Noble Barlow.
