Painter, born in Bishop Auckland. He trained at Newcastle upon Tyne College of Art, where his teachers included Robin Darwin and Robert Lyon. He exhibited at RA, RSA, Shipley Art Gallery, Gateshead, Ashmolean, Oxford and with the Lake Artists Society. He was for several years President of the Lake Artists Society and his work is in the collection of the University of Cumbria. He was married to the artist Gwendoline Smith.
