Henry Macbeth-Raeburn (1860-1947) was a painter and printmaker, son of the artist Norman Macbeth (1821-1888). Born Henry Raeburn Macbeth, he added the last name to distinguish himself from his father and brother, Robert Walker Macbeth (1848-1910). His work was not dissimilar to that of his brother, both painted sentimental pictures, genre scenes, landscapes, and portraits. Both were also known engravers. Born in Helensburgh, Scotland, Macbeth-Raeburn studied at Edinburgh University and art at Royal Scottish Academy Schools and at Academie Julian in Paris. He was elected a member of the RE in 1905 and of the RA in 1933 and served on both their councils. He was a member and exhibitor at the Ipswich Art Club 1943-45 and also exhibited at ROI, RSA, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, and at the RI and elsewhere. He was a member of the Chelsea Arts Club and his work is in the GAC. He was the husband of Marjorie May Bacon.
