Henry John Lyon (1862-1938) was a painter who was born in St Helens and was a founder member of the St Helens Art Club. He was also a member of the Liverpool Academy and the Liver Sketching Club. He exhibited at the Royal Institution of Watercolour Painters, Walker Art Gallery, and the Royal Cambrian Academy. The 1911 census gives his profession as 'Coal Merchant' and at his death his estate was worth the 2016 equivalent of more than £2 million.
