Description

An impressive watercolour view of the River Avon in South West England by British artist Henry Earp Senior. Showing livestock and figures fishing alongside the river, Earp has beautifully captured the picturesque natural beauty of the area. Chalk highlights and gum Arabic give the composition depth and richness of tone. Well presented in an ornate rococo style swept frame and card mount. The mount has been inscribed, there is a Croydon Gallery label and the artwork has been inscribed and signed additionally on the reverse. Signed. On wove.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and very light foxing spots visible to the sky area. There are a number of large losses to the frame which have been refilled and retouched, visible in the images above.
