Description
A milkmaid moves cattle along a rough track across Wotton Common in this delicate watercolour by Henry Brittan Willis (1810-1884). Warm ochres and dusty pinks in the heather give way to soft blue hills and a hazy sky, the light suggesting the close of the day. Presented mounted in a gilt effect frame. Indistinctly signed lower left. Signed and inscribed on an old label verso. On paper.Condition
Even discolouration to the watercolour. Small marks and imperfections in the frame's glazing. Light surface wear to the gilt effect frame. Overall, the artwork is in good condition for its age.
