Description

A fine and carefully detailed watercolour, depicting a rural pastoral landscape, with sheep in a field, by the artist Henry Birtles (1838-1907). Well-presented in a washline mount and thin gilt wooden frame, as shown. Signed and incsribed on the reverse. On wove.

Condition

In very good condition for a picture of this age. There is some scuffing and paint loss to the frame, as shown.

Artist Biography

Henry Birtles (1838-1907) was a landscape painter from Birmingham. He lived in Regent's Park, Hampstead and Arundel, England. Birtles also exhibited at the Royal Academy in London, during the period 1861-1878.
