Description

A detailed mixed media painting by the listed painter and set designed Henry Bardon. Includes oil, gouache, graphite and watercolour. It has been painted on paper and is signed 'bardon' in ink tot he lower right. It depicts festive figures on a street, and is likely to be a stage/set design. Signed. On wove.

Condition

Light creasing to the right side which is visible when held up to the light. Overall in good condition. Inspection under UV light reveals no restoration.

Artist Biography

British painter and set designer of Czech birth. He fled his homeland after the German invasion of 1938–9 and was trained at Dundee College of Art. In his early career Bardon designed for repertory theatre and in London for several West End plays, but from the 1960s he concentrated on opera and ballet.
