A beautiful pastoral scene by Hendrik Frauenfelder (1885-1922), depicting cattle grazing in a verdant field whilst a farmer tends to the milking in the foreground. The composition employs a low horizon line that emphasises the atmospheric quality of the almost clear sky, whilst cattle populate the tranquil Dutch countryside as far as the eye can see. The painting is well presented in an ornate gilt frame with floral and acanthus ornamentation. Signed to the lower right. On canvas.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including light soiling and some craquelure to the surface. The gilt effect frame is in good condition with only a small loss to the running pattern (top rail) and losses to the acanthus pattern (bottom rail) near centre. The overall condition of the artwork is very good.
