A workhorse pulls a cart across a river, with a man resting in the cart. The artist employs broad, flat brushstrokes with areas of subtle impasto. The work bears the signature of German artist Heinrich von Zügel (1850–1941) to the lower left, although we believe this to be a later addition. Well presented in a silver frame. On board.
