Description

An English river scene with cows standing in the shallow water and figures punting on the water. Presented glazed in a gold card mount and a gold painted wooden frame with a bead course to the outer edge. Signed and dated to the lower-right edge. On watercolour paper.

Condition

There is some mild foxing and discolouration and some small scuffs to the frame.

Artist Biography

Harold Lawes (1865-1940) was a Victorian landscape painter who lived in London. He depicted scenes from both the English countryside and Scottish loch sides. His preferred medium was watercolours. Exhibited: 1892 Birmingham Royal Society of Artists.
