Description
A vibrant early 20th century oil composition depicting a broad valley view built from blocks of flat colour, with bright green pasture running between patches of ploughed field, russet trees and hedgerows. A cluster of village houses sits on the valley floor. The handling is simplified and decorative, the hills rising in soft bands of olive and brown towards a high horizon and a pale strip of sky. Presented behind glass in a gilt-effect frame with a reeded window border. Signed lower right. Signed and titled verso. On board.Condition
Two small taped edges visible to the right-hand side and lower edge of the painting (near centre). The frame has minor surface wear and scuffs. The artwork is in very good condition for its age.
