A wonderful collaboration between German artists Hans Zank (1889-1967) and Willi Gericke (1895-1970). The oil work shows clear Post-Impressionist influence, with bold, warm ochre and orange tones applied with visible, energetic brushwork. The figures are rendered with a looseness that prioritises mood over precise anatomy. The couple offer a dynamic relationship: the female figure bending towards the water, the male poised at the bank's edge. The diagonal forms between them draw the eye naturally across the composition. The muted, silvery-grey water contrasts with the vivid green foliage and the warm flesh tones. Condition
A light, even patina of age is present across the surface of the artwork. The painted frame has been given a fine distressed patina. Overall, the artwork presents in very good condition.
