Artist Biography

Greta Magnusson-Grossman (1906-1999) was a renowned Swedish architect, interior and furniture designer. In 1933 she became the first woman to win the Furniture Design Award from the Swedish Society of Industrial Design, and throughout the 1960s she was a prominent figure in the world of experimental architecture. She moved to Los Angeles in the 1940s where she opened the Magnusson-Grossman studio on Rodeo Drive with stars such as Ingrid Bergman and Greta Garbo becoming her clients. Retiring in 1966, she moved to San Diego and spent the remaining 30 years of her life painting landscapes.
