Gordon Clifford Barlow (1913-2005) was born in Bradford and studied at the Bradford School of Art. He also studied with the artist Herbert Royle. Barlow worked as a sign writer and decorator. Alongside this, he was also a prolific painter, predominantly in oils. His work was popular enough to allow him to work full-time as a professional artist. His typical subjects included landscapes and village scenes, particularly in the Wharfe Valley area of Yorkshire, England. He also painted a number of village and landscape scenes in France and Italy. He exhibited at the Paris Salon.
