A delightful landscape painting by Gordon Clifford Barlow (1913-2004), depicting the historic Burnsall bridge spanning the River Wharfe. The composition is anchored by the bridge's graceful arches that draw the viewer's eye across the tranquil waterway, where dappled light reflects in the water. Some marks and light soiling to the surface of the painting. Minor wear to the gilt-effect frame. The overall condition of the artwork is very good.

Artist Biography

Gordon Clifford Barlow was a British artist (1913-2004). He lived and worked in Wharfedale, Yorkshire, and most of his paintings are of rural landscapes in Yorkshire and elsewhere. He studied and later taught at Bradford School of Art. He was taught by Stanley Royle and was known for his paintings of golf and golf courses. He exhibited at galleries in London and in the provinces.
