Gillian Lawson (b.1936) - Large 1978 Etching An Impression of Byranston

Description

A striking coloured etching of Bryanston, a country house built 1889-94, now home to a school which was founded in 1928. Presented glazed in a grey mount and distressed gilt-effect wooden frame. Inscribed in graphite below the plate line with the medium and number '30/125' to the left, the title to the centre, and the artist's signature and date to the right. On wove.

There is some very minor foxing but overall in excellent condition.

Artist Biography

Lawson was born in London and studied at the Camden Arts Centre in General Foundation Studies and Printmaking, 1968-71 and between 1972-75 silk-screen printing under the direction of Ingrid Greenfield and etching under Dorothea Wight at the Camden Institute. In 1981 Gillian Lawson was invited to become an associate member of the National Society of Painters, Sculptors & Printmakers. She has shown at the RA, the Mall Galleries and Catto Gallery, London and is a member of the Hampstead Artists' Council.
