Artist Biography
Gerard Trignac (b.1955) is a French draughtsman and engraver of figures, genre scenes, landscapes, urban landscapes, and architectural views. Trignac studied architecture in Bordeaux from 1975 to 1978 and, in 1981, was awarded an engraving scholarship to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He spent a scholarship year at the Casa Velzaquex in Madrid in 1982 and was awarded a number of other prizes and distinctions, including a first prize for original engraving in Bayeux in 1987 and the Charles Oulmont Prize awarded by the Fondation de France. He lives and works in Bordeaux. Trignac uses the techniques of etching, burin, and drypoint engraving. His work typically displays a sombre atmosphere.
