A delicateoriginal Georgian gouache of a man in traditional Georgian attire. The fine detail caught by the slightest graphite lines shows an accomplished artist. The portrait is presented in its originalpapier-mâchéframe with brass inner window, domed glass front and original brass acorn detail. At the back of the frame there are two pieces of card cut to size to fill the reverse; one has a silhouette portrait of a woman (possibly Victorian) and the other a section of a Georgian era acceptance letter to a London school for young ladies. Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The frame shows a small loss to the back at the top right corner, some scuffs around the edges of the frame and the brass details have tarnished. The original brass hanger has been lost.
