Georges Pacouil

Georges Pacouil (1903-1997) was born in Paris to Catalan parents. A student at the Bernard-Palissy School and above all a student of the pointillist Hippolyte Petitjean, Pacouil's life was punctuated with medals and honorary prizes from an early age. A neo-realist painter, his work focuses on form, giving priority to the structure of nature. His work is similar to that of Segonzac and Lapatelliere, highly figurative with a focus on both the female nude and views around Paris.

Pacouil worked as both a theatre decorator and teacher. After 1934, he focussed on painting, exhibiting in numerous salons in France and becoming a member of the Salon d'Automne. He also exhibited internationally, in the Balkans, Tunisia, and both San Francisco and Pittsburgh in the USA. His work is in the collection of the National Museum of Modern Art, Paris.
