Georges Creten (1887–1966) was a Belgian painter born in Saint-Gilles, Brussels. He trained under his father and later the Dillens brothers, joining avant-garde circles around 1910 and exhibiting from 1913. A founding member of the collective l'Art Vivant, he showed work widely across Belgium and internationally, including the Venice Biennale (1924), the Carnegie Institute (1935), and the Brussels World's Fair (1958). Best known for figures, portraits, nudes, still-lifes, and landscapes, Creten drew further inspiration from travels through Egypt, Italy, and beyond. His work is held in the permanent collections of museums in Brussels, Gand, and Ixelles, and his life and work were documented in monographs published in 1925 and 1959.
