Artist Biography

George Willis Pryce (1866-1949) was an English landscape painter, known for the fine composition of the backgrounds he displayed in his works. Many of his paintings are exhibited in galleries and museums, such as the Wednesbury Museum and Art Gallery, the Bewdley Museum, as well as several local pieces in the Evesham Town Hall. The detail in many of his pieces is considered especially fine, for example in the trees and water reflections, and he is famed for the composition of misty backgrounds. He used a mixture of different styles with the traditional fine detail along with a somewhat impressionist style of sweeping brush strokes.
