A pair painted on a sheet of canvas (not on stretchers), a larger landscape on wove paper (signed), and 2 smaller landscapes on wove paper. Largest sheet size 28 x 19 cm. Signed. On canvas. Condition is typical for pictures of this age including some discolouration and light scattered foxing to some. A loss to the upper corner of the largest watercolour, as seen in the image.

Artist Biography

George William Collins was born in 1863 and died in 1949. He was a talented English landscape painter whose artworks have been sold by auction houses across the UK including Bonhams and Sotheby’s.

Taken from a set of sketchbooks signed by the artist, the collection includes landscapes of the South East of England. This includes idyllic rural depictions of Kent, Surrey, Sussex and more. It also features a number of portraits through which the artist captures youthful beauty in young children and babies.
