George Warren Blackham (1839-1912) was a painter who was born in Birmingham. He probably studied at Birmingham School of Art and initially worked in the local jewellery industry, as listed in the censuses of 1861 and 1871. It was not until the 1881 census and later that he is recorded as an artist. Between 1870 and 1906 he exhibited over 40 paintings at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists and a single one at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool. A drawing by him of Old House in Bull Street, Birmingham was illustrated in the July 1886 edition of 'Art Student', an obscure illustrated magazine run by members of Birmingham School of Art. A self-portrait is in the collection of the Birmingham Museums Trust.
