A vibrant oil painting by the listed British artist George Richard Deakins. The use of heavy impasto applied with a palette knife and vivid block colours is typical of Deakins's work. Signed to the lower right and dated '80. On canvas on stretchers.Condition
Areas of craquelure to the painting. Light dirtying to the surface and edges of the artwork. However, the overall condition of the painting is good.

Artist Biography
George Richard Deakins was born in Gosport and served with the Royal Navy from 1927–1957. He began painting while serving on a British cruiser in the Indian Ocean during the Second World War and had a very distinctive thick impasto style. Deakins enjoyed much commercial success and had numerous one-man shows all around the world. On leaving the Navy he set his studio up in Dunster, Somerset.
